Grade 5 English Honors for school year 2025-26
This comprehensive 9-month course provides an advanced version of the standard public school English curriculum. Students will engage in weekly lessons, covering all facets of reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and creative writing. Throughout the course, students will write multiple essays and receive detailed feedback on both their rough and final drafts, ensuring continuous improvement and mastery of the subject matter.
Teacher Bio: Tanishi Dasgupta is a passionate and dedicated English educator currently pursuing her undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech. With a strong foundation in literature, creative writing, and linguistic studies, she excels in fostering a love for the English language among her students.a
As a college student, Tanishi brings fresh, innovative teaching methods that resonate with young learners. She has experience tutoring peers, leading workshops, and organizing writing clubs, showcasing her ability to connect with diverse audiences. Her commitment to education is evident in her dynamic lessons, which combine traditional literary analysis with modern perspectives.

Grade 5 English Honors Course Overview
In Grade 5 English Honors, students strengthen their skills in critical thinking, effective reading and advanced writing. They learn to research effectively, form arguments, develop theories, and imagine creative solutions while exploring exciting set of our reading curriculum. The course focuses on building independent research skills, analyzing texts, and crafting well-thought-out writing required for future academic success.
Our Course Goals
Our Language Arts course prepares students to become effective writers and future leaders by promoting creative ideas and communication skills. Students work on writing assignments as challenges in interpretation and communication, such as how to express ideas clearly or understand complex messages. Through written assignments and oral presentations, students master the skills taught in class, gaining the confidence and literacy needed to excel in college, careers, and everyday life.
